For nearly 200 years, members of the Senate have been assisting constituents who are seeking benefits and services from the federal government. I believe this is one of my most important duties as your Senator.

If you need assistance, federal law requires that you sign a Privacy Release Form before my staff may assist you. Once you have completed and signed that form, mail it to the address listed on the form and we can get started.

It is important to keep in mind that the Constitutional principle of "Separation of Powers" demands that no member of the legislature attempt to assume powers that are reserved to the other branches of government. That means I have no authority to require an agency to make any determination. However, I can ask for an explanation of any decision taken by an agency, and may pass their explanation on to you.

I am also prohibited from interfering with all matters before the courts. If you need assistance with the proceedings, judgements or sentences of any court of law, you will need to contact legal counsel.

Things to keep in mind before contacting me:

  • All casework requests are handled in my Atlanta Office.
  • Please make an effort to resolve the matter yourself. There are pages on my web site that may help you. If you cannot resolve it yourself, my staff will try to help you.
  • Please send us a written request and a signed copy of the privacy release form. We must have a signature in order to begin.
  • Please make sure you file a claim and that it is pending before contacting us
