your visit. Some tours require no reservations; others require reservations well in advance of the tour date. My office can

The capital city represents the governmental and politcal heart of our country. It is also a major cultural, historical and
economic resource for Americans as well as a wealth of sights and activities to be enjoyed by all.

GETTING AROUND
Washington has a subway system, called Metro, which can take you to all of itīs major tourist attractions, the Pentagon and
even National Airport, for a very reasonable fare. Trains arrive in each Metro station every five munutes during rush hours
(6-9:30 a.m., 3-6:30 p.m.) and every ten minutes the rest of the day.
The Metro bus system is another inexpensive and reliable means of transportation. Taxicab fares are also reasonable.
The Tourmobile and Old Town Trolley are ideal ways to get around the downtown sightseeing area. Both tours make
scheduled stops at points of interest on and near the Mall, including Arlington National Cemetery. For your convenience, you
may get off at any stop, then reboard and continue the tour.

Labor Day to June 15

June 15 to Labor Day
Tourmobiles leave stops every 20 minutes.

Visitors in wheelchairs, or with other mobility disabilities, on the public, self-guided tours, between 10 a.m. and 12 noon,
use the Visitor Entrance on East Executive Avenue and are admitted without waiting in line and without tickets. These
visitors, with up to 4 accompanying guests, present themselves at the Visitor Entrance; the USSS Officers will admit them.

INTERNSHIPS
Applying for an internship in a congressional office can be educational as well as fun! The purpose of the Internship
Program is to provide opportunities for college students, recent college graduates and others interested in public service
to gain firsthand knowledge of the way a Senate office operates on a daily basis, to observe the legislative process at the
federal level, and to develop research skills related to public policy.
